All participating properties must meet rigorous cleanliness and maintenance standards that are uniformly administered across Canada. Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) Most goods and services sold in Nova Scotia are subject to the HST, a 15% federal/provincial tax. Tax Rebates Non-Canadian visitors are eligible for rebates of the HST paid on short-term accommodations, and also on goods purchased for use outside Canada if removed from Canada with in 60 days of purchase. Receipts will show the amount of tax paid. Rebate forms and more detailed information are available from Visitor Information Centres, Revenue Canada offices, Canada Customs ports, and many accommodations.
